Walk-and-Talk Coaching Sessions That Combine Movement, Nature, and Meaningful Conversation
Serving clients throughout Connecticut—including Farmington, West Hartford, and Hartford
There's something about walking that makes it easier to think, talk, and process what's really going on. Walk-and-talk coaching sessions at Afterglow Coaching and Consulting combine the benefits of professional coaching with the natural clarity that comes from being outdoors and moving your body.
Whether you're working through a tough decision, feeling stuck in your usual routine, or simply prefer coaching that doesn't involve sitting across from someone in an office, this approach helps you open up, think more creatively, and reduce stress while making real progress on your goals.
We offer walk-and-talk sessions in parks, nature trails, or any outdoor location where you feel comfortable and inspired.
held in local parks, nature trails, or outdoor spaces where you feel comfortable, allowing you to benefit from fresh air and natural surroundings while working on your goals.
helps reduce the intensity of difficult emotions and makes it easier to talk about challenging topics without feeling as overwhelmed or stuck as you might in a traditional setting.
instead of face-to-face, which many people find less intimidating and more natural, creating a sense of partnership rather than being under a microscope during the session.
Not everyone thrives in a traditional office setting, and that's completely okay. At Afterglow, we believe coaching should adapt to what works for you, not the other way around. Walk-and-talk sessions offer all the benefits of professional coaching—clarity, accountability, support, and guidance—in a format that feels more natural and less intimidating for many people.
Sitting in a chair staring at someone can make conversations feel heavy, formal, or forced. Walking changes the dynamic entirely, helping your thoughts flow more freely and your words come more easily.
There's less pressure, less intensity, and more room to just be
yourself.
When you're dealing with grief, anger, anxiety, or any other heavy emotion, sitting still can make those feelings more intense. Walking gives your body something to do with the energy those emotions create. Instead of sitting with discomfort in a static space, you're moving through it—literally and figuratively.
Most of us spend too much time indoors, disconnected from the natural world, and it takes a toll we don't always notice. Walk-and-talk coaching gives you an excuse to get outside and reconnect with nature while still doing meaningful work on your goals and well-being. Being outdoors has measurable benefits—it lowers stress hormones, improves mood, and helps you feel more grounded.
It creates a holistic experience that supports both your mental and physical health. You're not just talking about your life—you're actively taking care of yourself in the process. Many clients leave walk-and-talk sessions feeling lighter, more energized, and more hopeful than they do after indoor sessions, simply because they've spent an hour in a way that nourishes them on multiple levels.
We choose locations based on your preferences and what's accessible to you. This could be a local park, a nature trail, a quiet neighborhood, or any outdoor space where you feel comfortable. We discuss options ahead of time so you know what to expect and can dress appropriately.
Not at all. We walk at whatever pace works for you, and we can take breaks whenever you need them. This isn't about exercise—it's about having conversations while moving gently, so there's no fitness requirement or expectation.
We choose routes and times that offer as much privacy as possible. Most conversations happen in quiet areas where other people are passing by rather than lingering. Your privacy is important, and we're mindful of that when selecting locations and discussing sensitive topics.
If weather makes outdoor sessions uncomfortable or unsafe, we can reschedule or switch to a virtual or indoor session instead. Flexibility is built into the process, so you're never stuck doing something that doesn't work for the conditions that day.
In many cases, yes. If having your dog with you helps you feel more comfortable and relaxed, we can usually accommodate that. We discuss this during scheduling to make sure it works for everyone involved.
The core coaching process is the same—we work on your goals, challenges, and growth. The difference is the setting and format. Walking side-by-side in nature creates a different energy that many people find more relaxing, open, and conducive to honest conversation than sitting in an office.
